St. Joe’s
Abbey Style Brown Ale
The yeasts used in Belgian style beers are super distinctive and create a large palette of options for a brewer to choose from. Combine this with rich dark malts and you get a beer that makes you want to settle into a comfy chair and ponder it. Joe’s pairs well with a wood fire and the long dark hours of winter time.

If you have ever been to the Village of Cowley or driven between there and Lundbreck during a winter storm you know that its reputation for some pretty awful winter weather is justified. Imagining enduring winters during those times makes me shudder!
This beer was built to be a companion to sit by the fire with. A distraction from the windows rattling, and a comfort after hours of shovelling.
It draws heavily from Belgian brewing traditions and I am sure would have been welcomed by Cowley residents in the time of the Eucharistic miracle.
St. Joe’s was awarded a Silver Medal in the 2022 Alberta brewing awards and a Bronze Medal in 2019 for the Belgian Farmhouse category.
